We are proud of our smartphone policy because:
We believe that ownership of a smartphone is unnecessary for any primary-age pupil. Childhood is a precious time for physical play, real-world socialisation, and focused learning. To protect these vital years, we fully support the recommendation to delay smartphone ownership for all children until at least age 14.
Additional policy features:
- We limit smartphone use during after school clubs,
- We limit smartphone use on school trips,
- We never ask children to use smartphones for lesson related activities or otherwise,
- We actively engage with parents and children to educate on the downside of smartphones,
- We actively minimise the need for smartphones when completing homework, enabling alternatives where possible,
- We are excellent at implementing our policy
