Group policies and letters
This page contains policies and letters from groups of schools in the UK, which are collectively moving towards gold standard policies, or expressing an encouragement toward gold policies. Gold standard smartphone policies are simple-phone-only ('brick' phone) policies, or no-phone policies.
Group policies are organised in various ways; some are led by local authorities, some by multi-acaemy trusts (MATs), or diocese, for example. Many are organised by Headteachers working together in a particular region or body of schools. Collective action can empower headteachers to create truly smartphone free schools and, in turn, help to facilitate smartphone free childhoods for their pupils.
This is believed to be the most comprehensive current directory of UK group letters with a gold standard policy. The information has been compiled by Nancy Stuart. As policies change and published information can be difficult to locate, this directory is a work in progress and may contain omissions or errors. Users are encouraged to verify details independently. If you wish to add a school, suggest a correction, ask a question, or need help, please email: nancy@smartphonefreerating.org
