We are proud of our smartphone policy because:
We are very pleased with the positive impact of our smartphone ban. We are already seeing clear benefits: children are talking to one another on their way to and from school, they are more alert to traffic when crossing the road, and we are seeing a noticeable reduction in online problems. Our primary school colleagues, with whom we have developed our approach, are equally pleased with the impact the changes are having in their schools.
Additional policy features:
- We limit smartphone use during after school clubs
- We limit smartphone use on school trips
- We never ask children to use smartphones for lesson related activities or otherwise
- We actively engage with parents and children to educate on the downside of smartphones
- We are excellent at implementing our policy
