We are proud of our smartphone policy because:
We communicate effectively to parents and carers. At the beginning of the year we shared a presentation, specific to our school, which highlighted the very real dangers faced by our children. We have seen a reduction in the number of incidents linked to social media.
Staff are kept informed of the risks and dangers associated with phones. We provide staff meeting time to provide specific training for our staff.
Additional policy features:
- We limit smartphone use during after school clubs
- We limit smartphone use on school trips
- We never ask children to use smartphones for lesson related activities or otherwise
- We actively engage with parents and children to educate on the downside of smartphones
- We actively minimise the need for smartphones when completing homework, enabling alternatives where possible
- We are excellent at implementing our policy
