We are proud of our smartphone policy because:
Our Phone-Free Policy has provided pupils greater freedom from the distractions of mobile devices and social media during the school day. The response from pupils has been overwhelmingly positive. We have observed improved social interactions, and clear academic benefits from having a school environment free from phones in classrooms, prep, and social spaces.
Additional policy features:
- We limit smartphone use on school trips,
- We limit smartphone use during after school clubs,
- We never ask children to use smartphones for lesson related activities or otherwise,
- We actively engage with parents and children to educate on the downside of smartphones,
- We actively minimise the need for smartphones when completing homework, enabling alternatives where possible,
- We are excellent at implementing our policy
