We are proud of our smartphone policy because:
OCPPA is a smartphone free zone for children as pupils are not permitted to bring them into the academy. We believe this gives children the freedom to learn, play, and connect with one another without digital distractions.
Additional policy features:
- We are excellent at implementing our policy
- We actively minimise the need for smartphones when completing homework, enabling alternatives where possible
- We never ask children to use smartphones for lesson related activities or otherwise
- We limit smartphone use during after school clubs
- We limit smartphone use on school trips
- We actively engage with parents and children to educate on the downside of smartphones
